■ Date:
September 25 (Wed) – September 27 (Fri), 2024
September 25: 14:00 – 15:30: Lecture & Introduction
September 26: 12:00 – 17:00: Open Working Day
September 27: 14:00 – 16:30: Final Presentation and open discussion

■ Location:
Liberal Arts Center Building 21-B102B Workshop Room (Hachioji Campus, Tama Art University)

■ Concept:
Through the collective work reappropriating methodology characteristic for the process of making the sand mandalas, this workshop will aim to investigate notions like “home”, “safe place”, “space”, “memory” and “void” in the context of contemporary urbanization and its current political and anthropological relevance. The main idea is to alter the genuine shape of the mandala so that it would mimic the floor plan of a demolished building/apartment (to be chosen during the initial meeting) and to use leftovers found around the campus as a default material instead of sand. In such framework of a very raw take on socially engaged, cross-cultural conceptualism, key analised issues will be:
● recycling
● reclaiming
● recreating
● rewinding
● rebuilding
